ACC and United Way - Game Changers

SENT ON BEHALF OF BRENDA DIGGS, UWNC Board Chair

In 2015, we will celebrate our 20th year of partnership with the ACC. Over the years, we have seen the development of PSAs for ACC schools, opportunities for outreach to local boys and girls during ACC tournaments, and United Way exposure through ACC schedule cards and tournament guides. In 2014, the ACC approached United Way of North Carolina with a new project idea – Game Changers. Working alongside the ACC footprint, a video would be produced to tell the story of ACC student athletes investing in their communities through United Way or community/partner agency initiatives. Stories were submitted by several United Ways with Notre Dame’s story selected for production.

It is my pleasure to share the completed video with you. The story of Notre Dame’s Lacrosse team volunteering with the Dickinson Fine Arts Academy is touching and shows ACC student athletes’ positive influence while mentoring middle school boys. This video demonstrates the work of United Way and the impact we have on young lives.

We want to thank Scott McBurney, and his team, for their leadership and their desire to inspire others to get involved with United Way. More stories are coming as the ACC is dedicated to the Game Changers project in 2015. I invite you to share the video with others.
